While much of the country is keeping warm indoors, we're fortunate to be able to enjoy being out and about (much to Tanner's delight as well as ours.)
Playing in the bay at Crissy Field is Tanner's first choice for a great outing, and we enjoyed doing just that a couple of days ago.
However, on New Year's Eve day we enjoyed a 5-mile walk through Golden Gate Park, out to Ocean Beach near the Cliff House and meandered back to our car.
This is one reason we pay the big bucks to live here! Our houses tend to be small, and very expensive -- but we don't stay inside much -- we have the coastal hills, and beaches, and mountains and parks as our backyard.
(Tanner and I both look like we had already partied!)
(The golden light of late afternoon streaming through the eucalyptus--magic!)

Very nice Lottie Kendall ! We do pay for the weather don't we? Today is another beautiful day. Gwen and i usually go for a guided New Years Day hike at Mt Tam but we are both recovering from colds.
Chicken soup, Jim Cheney - and lots of Emergen-C! Colds are no fun, so I hope you and Gwen say good-bye to yours soon.
When the rainy days FINALLY begin, I can't wait to head to Mt. Tam for a hike through the redwoods to West Point.
Lottie the Bay Area has a lot to offer. No matter what your interests are there is something for everyone
I could get into that. I love to take a hike through the woods.
Wishing you and your family an abundance of all good things in the new year.
Bob
Good mornin g Lottie. I love these photos and your insights are terrific too.
George Souto - you're right; whether one wants fine restaurants and shopping, or peace and quiet - it's all here, right in the midst of the city.
William Feela - the best part: these woodsy trails can be found right in the midst of the city.
Good morning, Bob Crane - thank you for your good wishes. I wish the same for you and your family in 2018 -- and beyond.
Hi Sheila Anderson - I'm glad you enjoyed the photos; hope you are keeping warm and enjoying your pups these early days of 2018.

Certainly looks like an amazing way to spend the day! Temperature got all the way up from 17 to 32 degrees here today in Atlanta!
Happy and Healthy New Year - Lynn
Happy New Year, Lynn B. Friedman . You've definitely been slammed by winter; hope everything thaws well. Thanks for offering your jump start challenge again this year--it is truly a gift you give all of us here on Active Rain!
Lottie, good job on getting this blog out. Google's spiders and crawlers use blogs for their SEO rankings and love original content and the right keywords.
Good morning Andy Brown-Climer School of Real Estate - thanks for your comments on this post. Tell me, did you find it by using certain keywords?
I didn't find your post that way. I don't think that AR users typically 'search' keywords on AR. Keywords are more for the outside world's searches.
That's what I assumed, Andy Brown-Climer School of Real Estate , so how did you happen to stumble across a post that's more than a year old?
Ha! That's a whole other Active Rain trick
