Our grandson, Henry, is already quite the little bookworm, Lottie ... and his teachers note that he is happiest with books in his hand and surrounding him. I'm so happy to see that this bookstore is thriving and even in need of additional new space to accommodate its customers.

Kudos to "Russian Hill Bookstore"  and many wishes for continued success!

What a nice story, Gene Mundt, IL/WI Mortgage Originator - FHA/VA/Conv/Jumbo/Portfolio/Refi It's nice to hear that youngster like Henry enjoy reading. How old is he now?

A place I have been, for once, LOL. I, too, Lottie, am a big champion of bookstores, especially family-owned operations. I fear for the day that books will become extinct. That will be the end of civilization.

Lottie I don't know if you want to be blogging anything with the word Russian in it.  People seem to be getting in trouble for anything Russian these days

I'm glad the Russian Hill Bookstore has thrived.  But, somehow, in San Francisco, I understand why it would!

This is wonderful! Whenever I visit a town or city and see a book store like this, I pop inside and love to browse the bookshelves. It's wonderful that Russian Hill Bookstore has been a part of the community for more than 40 years! May they continue to thrive and profit and may people continue to read hard cover books!

Good morning Lottie. I am very glad an old time book store is thriving and it is a place I would frequent too.

Good morning, Myrl Jeffcoat - even in San Francisco not all independent bookstores survive. Russian Hil Bookstore and Cody's in North Beach are two that seem to flourish.

Hi Abby Stiller - I'm glad the book store is doing well, too. Polk Street has numerous restaurants, bars, pet stores, clothing and other shops, and the book store is a nice augmentation.

Good morning, Patricia Feager - there's something wonderful about browsing in a good bookstore, isn't there? One of my favorite activities, too. One summer when I was heading to Manhattan, a client told me about a book store near Columbia University -- we spent well over an hour there (perhaps the A/C was an added attraction that hot and steamy day! )

Hello Sheila Anderson - it's always a pleasure to browse in a good bookstore, especially one that carries a wide variety of both old and new books.

I have never been much into reading, but I believe it to be a very important thing to do, so for my niece and nephews birthdays, I buy them books.

Hi Brian England - even those who don't read a lot enjoy the Russian Hill Bookstore - maps; puzzles; classic board games; all sorts of miscellany.

I know that store, Lottie! Of course, I was in it when they were barely open. I adore bookstores like this and really mourn the disappearance of so many of them all around the country (along with many libraries, too). Nothing like browsing in a bookstore if you ask me.

How fun that you know and remember the Russian Hill Bookstore, Nina Hollander . It's great that they've expanded,  especially in this era of brick-and-mortar stores closing
