Mayhem Mansion returns to San Francisco! In 2016, it will be here for only 4 days, October 21, 22, 28, and 29, 2016.
In the words of San Francisco Heritage, "The current caretakers of Mayhem Mansion have agreed to let curious outsiders get a peek inside, however, the ghostly presence of the mysterious Mayhem family still remains. Your tour begins in the foyer, where a benevolent host will lead you through the magnificent manse, but beware! You never know who, or what, is lurking in the dark corners, or behind closed doors. The tour ends at the bottom of the stairs, in the more lively Spookeasy. Watch your step!"
For most of the year, the Haas-Lilienthal house near the intersection of Franklin and Jackson, is a grand Queen Anne Victorian, and the only Victorian residence open to the public for tours. Built in 1886, and located just one block west of Van Ness Avenue, it survived the great earthquake and fire of 1906.
Tickets for Mayhem Mansion, a not-to-be-missed event, can be purchased through EventBrite, with proceeds going to support San Francisco Heritage's mission to preserve and share the legacy of the Haas-Lilienthal house.

It sounds like a perfect opportunity to meet new people.
Good morning Harry F. D'Elia - you never know who you'll meet at Mayhem Mansion
Good morning Lottie. Sounds like a really scary tour. Have you been?
Mayhem Mansion sounds like it has some spooky owners and a ghostly time will be held by all. Glad we don't come across this kind of manse in our normal daily work as real estate agents, though. Let's see, how would you disclose it?
Yes, Sheila Anderson - the last 2 years we took various family members; this year my daughter and son-in-law will join us
Hella M. Rothwell, Broker/Realtor® - disclosures could be tough for Mayhem Mansion -- and the AVID would be many, many pages long!
I love old architecture and would love to see that! Thanks for sharing.
Carol Williams - the Haas-Lilienthal house is a gorgeous example of Queen Anne style Victorian houses; it's open for tours throughout the year.
Such a gorgeous building, Lottie. Don't know that the mayhem tour is quite my style, but I'd sure love a tour otherwise.
You're in luck, Nina Hollander - public tours are offered year round -- on your list for your next visit.
That's good to know, Lottie... I will definitely put it on my list of things to do/see when next in town.
Good Afternoon Lottie - what perfect timing for Halloween. It would be great to take the tour after dark.
This tour should be a very interesting experience.
Have a great Sunday and an outstanding week!
Aloha Lottie, well aren't you the early bat! Thank you!!!
You have your wish for 4 evenings only! Doesn't the mansion look different in the first picture? Quite eerie--I could never duplicate that shot. Grant Schneider
Sounds like a great adventure for those who enjoy having the bejeebers scared out of them this time of year, Lottie!
Mayhem Mansion is nicely done, Roy Kelley - fabulous setting and appropriately scary!!
Hi Kimo Stowell - i bought tickets for Mayhem Mansion and wrote my post about it; thought of you and discovered you're up to your amazing tricks again this Halloween! Thanks for your fun and clever contest.
Hi Myrl Jeffcoat - set in an old Victorian house adds to the thrills and chills. Just the right amount of scariness to be fun.
Lottie Kendall - This looks like so much fun! Buy your tickets now for the Mayhem Mansion in San Francisco and let us know just how scared you were!: )
Nothing quite like a huge, rambling old Victorian to set the mood for a spooky adventure, Laura Allen, Lake Tahoe - Truckee Real Estate for Sale www.TahoeLauraLuxuryHomes.com
So you can see Mayhem Mansion at other times of the year and not just those 4 days in October? Because if so, next time we come into the City, I'd like to see this house.
Yes, Elizabeth Weintraub Sacramento Real Estate Agent, Top 1% of Lyon Agents - the Haas-Lilienthal house is open to the public several days a week all year round -- only for 4 days does it turn into Mayhem Mansion
Lottie how fun, on a side note when I was buying my first home in Connecticut it was a toss up between an old colonial and an old Victorian... my father talked me out of the old Victorian because he thought it would be too much work to bring it back to life:))Endre
Your dad might have been right, Endre Barath, Jr. - it takes a lot of work and $$$ to keep those gems in top shape and ready for today's living.
Lottie he was spot on... my Old Colonial was expensive to improve but no where near what the Old Victorian would have been, needless to say I still love both and even today I would not be able to manage the responsibilities:))Endre
I'm happy to be in a condo at this point Endre Barath, Jr. - I can concentrate on real estate, then have plenty of time to play and explore with being consumed with household chores. I'm loving this urban lifestyle!
Oh I would SO be there! Sounds awesome!
Just think Sharon Tara if you and other Rainers were here what a fun, spooky party we could have!
It would be the ultimate Meet Up! A spooky Halloween version!
I love San Fran and wish I could be there for a tour of this mansion. I will check it out in December when I am there.
Joe Pryor - The Haas-Lilienthal house won't be haunted in December, but the docents give tours on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. If you have time for a cup of coffee, let me know.
