Living the San Francisco Dream

Adventures with Tanner--a walk along Broadway

I wrote previously about a walk to Aquatic Park and the fun we had there with Tanner, the golden retriever. Mid-day today I took a break, and borrowed Tanner again for more adventures.

Our free time was short, so we simply walked along Broadway, from Franklin to the top of the Lyon Street stairs and the pedestrian entry to the Presidio.

Broadway-Franklin to Lyon

This Google map cracks me up--Google doesn't think walking on Broadway is advisable, I guess because of the steep ups and downs. Tanner thought it delightful. I survived.

Being an energetic young dog, Tanner didn't stay still for many pictures, but we did stop to smell the roses--literally.

These were my favorites today--striped roses are quite unusual to me.

When you live in San Francisco, every day can be an adventure, and Adventures With Tanner are especially fun.

--- Come for a visit; Stay for a lifetime!

A day in San Francisco and a day in San Francisco with a precious pup ... priceless. The roses, because of their strips look like carnations to me. Glad you got out and walked with Tanner.

The flowers are definitely roses, Kathleen Daniels, but very unusual ones. Nice day for a walk, and now it's back to work!

Lottie, beautiful picture of roses and I love the name! What fun to walk with Tanner around San Francisco, even with the hills.  Thanks for sharing your adventure with us!

Candy Stripe is the perfect name for these roses, Ron and Alexandra Seigel - a variety I hadn't seen before. Very showy!

Hi Susan Laxson - I never get tired of walking in San Francisco. Sometimes I choose lots of hills; other times I choose a staircase walk, or maybe over Russian Hill to North Beach for dinner. Taking Tanner makes a walk extra fun.

Love those roses Lottie Kendall and I do miss my Jack and the walks we took but I don't miss cleaning up after him.

Cleaning up took me quite a while to master, but I did Bob "RealMan" Timm . At least I don't need to worry about vet visits, etc. with a borrowed dog

Those are unusual looking beautiful roses, Lottie.  I'm glad you and Tanner had your time together!

If Tanner would sit still, he's be starring in more of my adventures. As it is, I need another photographer with me to take his snapshots, Noah Seidenberg

Hi Myrl Jeffcoat - Alexandra ( of Ron and Alexandra Seigel) identified the roses as a variety called "Candy Stripe." New to me, but a most appropriate name.

Hi Lottie Kendall ,  Our pastor in Georgia over 20 years ago had a Golden retriever named "Tanner".  I love Goldens.  They seem to be so loving and gentle.

Lottie Kendall - Looks like Tanner is getting VIP treatment with you on his walks in one of the most beautiful cities around!  You're setting the bar very hard for others who may be lucky enough to watch him!

My dogs would freak out with that many homes and cars.  Google is smart.

Hi Kathy Streib - walking is a great way to really see what's around.

Larry Johnston - Golden Retrievers are delightful dogs--if you don't mind their shedding!

Lou Ludwig and Roy Kelley - no need to hit the gym for cardio if you walk in San Francisco!

It's hard to say who enjoys our walks together more, Tanner or me -- Laura Allen, Lake Tahoe - Truckee Real Estate for Sale

Hi Tammy Lankford, - it takes dogs a while to get used to noise and traffic. Tanner has gotten used to city living and loves all the smells of people, dogs, etc. on our walks. Sensory overload!

Gita Bantwal - spring is lovely everywhere, and the gardens in San Francisco are gorgeous--a new sight to enjoy every day.

There's always something new to see when walking in San Francisco, Dorie Dillard . Walking with a golden retriever opens doors of conversation with people passing by, too. Another benefit.
