Living the San Francisco Dream

head_left_image

When darkness comes early .....

This weekend California, like much of the country, switches to daylight savings time. Soon, evening walks in San Francisco will have more daylight and the views will look quite different. I'll  be able to safely enjoy the many staircases on Russian Hill, Telegraph Hill in Pacific Heights. (My favorite staircases aren't lit as well as the sidewalks, so I avoid them once darkness falls.)

Lottie, such beautiful pictures.  Really will be nice to have a little more daylight each day!

Hi Laura Sellers -- we'll enjoy more light in the evening, but my morning walks will be with headlamps on once again !

Know what you mean, Lottie!  Morning walks are ususally so quiet, peaceful and serene.  Sometimes it is nice to walk when it is dark, but I feel safest when it is light outside.  Walking is how I get most of my exercise.  Love being outdoors and seeing everything.  It is especially pretty here in Auburn as the flowers are starting to bloom.

Lottie-I love your night photos but yes, we all will welcome a little more daylight for our evening activities.  Now, if i can just get past losing that one hour.

Hi Lottie Kendall you are VERY FORTUNATE TO LIVE WHERE YOU LIVE..... no snow....no below freezing temperatures.... good weather all year round.... oh, how I envy you....

Barbara Todaro - we are fortunate; that evening I walked in T-shirt,with my running jacket over my arm. Some things, however, are less than perfect; I bet you don't envy our gasoline prices!gas price in SF

And to think we are lamenting our gas prices being back up to $2.15!

Gorgeous photos and beautiful views...I like the longer evenings, but don't like the darker mornings.  It's a trade off!

Hi, Frank Rubi, MBA - San Francisco is a very picturesque city - even my Samsung phone captures nice shots when I'm out and about.

You gas prices are high but you probably do so much on foot. It is a gorgeous city and would love to visit again soon.

You're right, Debbie Reynolds - when I'm in the city I rarely take out the car. About 5 days a week I'm on the Peninsula, and am very happy to have a Prius getting roughly 50mpg of regular gas.

While I don't look forward to missing an hour of sleep tomorrow, I so look forward to longer evenings.  I LOVE Daylight Saving Time!

I sleep so irregularly, Myrl Jeffcoat  I won't miss the hour tonight. But, come Monday morning when I'm up at 5:30 AM, I'll be in darkness an extra hour.

Good morning Lottie. I could not help but notice the price of gas.  Here I'm griping about the price of guess having gone up to $2.29.

Michael Thornton - I feel a bit (OK, just a little bit) guilty writing posts about how gorgeous our days are, so thought I'd also tell you about our less than gorgeous gas prices

Hello Joe Petrowsky - mine too. I guess we're a couple of the lucky ones not seeming to be bothered by an hour's time change.

Lottie Kendall - So glad to have the extra light in the evenings.  Between now and the summer solstice we gain 1.5 - 2 minutes of extra daylight each day!  I really enjoy this time of year as the days grow longer and we begin the change in seasons!

Lottie: I'm also someone who walks everywhere. In San Francisco, I always added a tram ride to get me back to where I started, or a ferry ride. Beautiful city.

Lottie

Many of my days start early, getting up when it's still dark feels like I'm getting up in the middle of the night.

Good luck and success.
