The Year of the Ram-Chinese New Year in San Francisco

Come usher in The Year of the Ram with the San Francisco Symphony when they host their annual Chinese New Year family concert on Saturday, February 21, 2015.

The concert begins at 3:00 PM at Davies Symphony Hall at the Civic Center in San Francisco, but come early to enjoy the many family activities spread throughout the gracious lobby areas.

Buddha at Davies Symphony Hall SF

Greet the smiling Buddha and rub his stomach for good luck; watch lion dancing and ribbon dancing up close and personal; sip tea at the tea bar, and enjoy tasty Chinese snacks; check out the on-going calligraphy demonstrations. Children will be given lucky red envelopes-learn what that's all about.

taste the food

And that's all before the concert begins!

Last year we took our granddaughter and a friend of hers to this event--it's hard to say who enjoyed it more, the girls or us! A music snippet can be heard here.

Enjoy the wonder of it all.

We thought we were doing the girls a favor by taking them last year. Honestly, Gene and I enjoyed the activities and music as much as the girls. Fun event for all, Sharon Tara

San Francisco certainly is the place for celebrating Chinese new year. As I was born an Aries (the Ram), I'm hoping it will be good year for me in the year of the Ram!

Lou Ludwig - San Francisco has a large Chinese community - the largest outside of Asia, I'm told. Chinese New Year's is a celebration we all enjoy.

Hi Laura Allen, Lake Tahoe - Truckee Real Estate for Sale www.TahoeLauraLuxuryHomes.com - this event with the San Francisco symphony is truly fun for all ages. It's colorful, dramatic, exciting, educational -- and tasty too.

Nancy Laswick  The cultural diversity is one of the big attractions to living in San Francisco.

Nina Hollander - the Year of the Ram has to be auspicious for you!

Hello Joe Petrowsky - the big Buddha greets one at the entrance to Davies Hall. He gets lots of belly pats, from young and old alike.

Joan Cox - you need another trip here; maybe NAR should come again soon!
