Living the San Francisco Dream

Surprise on a San Francisco staircase

Walking in San Francisco is a delight--you never quite know what surprises will be in store for you.

Yesterday I was walking in the Eureka Valley - Noe Valley area, enjoying the challenge of ascending various long staircases. One beautiful staircase replaced two blocks of 22nd Street, blocks too steep for cars to maneuver. As I approached the top I spied:

Little Free Library on 22d St stairsLast week I wrote a post about Little Free Libraries and talked about one I spotted along Jackson Street in the Pacific Heights area of town. Now I find another one. I think I've found a theme for my many walks through the various neighborhoods of San Francisco.

Have you spotted these Little Free Libraries in your town or neighborhood? Post a picture here--I'd enjoy seeing them.

--- Come for a visit; Stay for a lifetime!

Very cool Lottie, we don't have anything like that around here unfortunately.

Lottie - What a fun surprise to come across these mini-libraries that someone has set-up.  You never know what you are going to come across on your walks!

Lottie, I have yet to spot a little free library in my area or anywhere. When I do see one I will know what it is from reading your posts.

Lottie~ I've never seen a little free library, but I think it would be a wonderful thing for our small town! I have a librarian friend, I wonder if she would know anything about having one or getting one started???

Hi Lottie,  what a treat and nice surprise.  I would love to find a little free library to care and share.  Keep finding these on your walks about town.

Hi Lottie, I see them often in certain neighborhoods. I'm meeting with a seller on Wednesday in an area that has lots of these, so I'll remember to take a photo. I love this concept and it's very neighborly!

Good morning Lottie. How neat is that. We have nothing like this in our area, I'm sure the weather has something to do with it.

Make it a great week!

Lottie, how cool is that!    What a great way to share books you have already read!

Lottie

I think that the free library is a great idea.

Good luck and success.

Scott, the first Little Free Library I spotted was a delightful surprise; this second one simply delightful. I'll find more around town, I'm sure.

Laura, there's always some delight popping up!

Kathleen, and when you spot it, you'll be tickled!

Donna, my earliest post, Little Free Libaries, has a link to the official site and gives lots of details about this idea. Feel free to share my post with your librarian friend.

Judith, keep your eyes open -- you never know when one will pop up in you area!

Cindy, I'll look forward to the picture of one or more in the Portland OR area.

Judi, as I suggested to Judith - keep an eye out--sooner or later one might appear.

Joe, the weather might, indeed, have something to do with it -- but it start in Wisconsin, so who knows?

Joan, I like having destinations for my walks, and the Little Free Library is now one of them.

Lou, it's a great way to share and to encourage reading at the same time. Thanks for your good wishes.

Anita, agreed. Little Mini Libraries are charming and a great neighborhood asset.

Donna, you're welcome. I hope to read someday in the near future that one is now present in your town!
