...It's Christmas Time in the City

Christmas!

Decorated lamp post on top of Nob Hill, SF

A simple picture, but it speaks volumes to me - It's Christmas Time in the City!

This lamp post is top Nob Hill. The Fairmont Hotel is on the left; the Mark Hopkins Hotel the tall building peeking out from behind the almost-bare tree. Powell Street, with it's famous cable car line, is one short block down California Street. Turn right onto Powell (a steep down grade--if you're wearing high heels, you might tip over ) and walk 4 short blocks and you'll arrive at Union Square, the hub of the shopping district, lavishly decorated for the holidays.

Music is in the air -- maybe you'll even hear some Silver Bells.

--- Come for a visit; Stay for a lifetime!

That picture brings back some great memories of my time in San Francisco and I bet this recent cold snap has actually made it feel like Christmas time.

City sidewalks, busy sidewalks, dressed in holiday style - in the air there's the feeling of Christmas.  Enjoy the season Lottie.

Everything looks so pretty this time of year.  It's kind of naked when it all goes away in January.

Laura, I plan to enjoy the holidays; hope the same for you.

Catherine, the decorations, the lights, the music - all beautiful. I O.D. quickly though, and am ready to return to normal by Jan.1.

Nancy, I haven't been in the Mark Hopkins since decorations went up. Soon, I hope.

Geri, there are worse songs to have stuck in one's head! I'm a fan of Silver Bells, too.

Hi Joan - I was struck by this lamp post, pretty in its own right but lovely with the red bow. I've been humming "Silver Bells" a lot lately!

Lottie, the photo and your post make me want to walk a mile to two around Nob Hill up one hill and down another.
