Living the San Francisco Dream

Christmastime at the Fairmont Hotel, Nob Hill, San Francisco

Perched high atop Nob Hill in San Francisco,

The Fairmont Hotel is a favorite of many.

Gingerbread House, Fairmont Hotel, SF

For years, people have come to partake of their holiday tea service, and for Saturday's community event -- a visit from Santa, the opening of the 23-foot tall Gingerbread house, free cookies, cider, champagne, cocoa and music provided by several community groups.

The San Francisco City Chorus, led by their director, Larry Marrieta, opened this morning's festivities with their beautiful renditions of traditional Christmas carols. The crowd was appreciative, and the children enthralled. Only when Santa Claus made his entrance were the children distracted!

Santa arrives at the Fairmont Hotel, SF

(Can you spot Santa coming down the staircase?)

Events like this Chrismas gala at the Fairmont Hotel draw people from all over the Bay Area, but when you live here in San Francisco, it's so very easy to attend. Within a half-mile of the Fairmont Hotel, you'll find a wide variety of condominiums ready for you to make your home, or your pied-a-terre.

--- Come for a visit; Stay for a lifetime!

Lottie, sure would be fun to be able to walk to see the Fairmont Hotel all decked out for the Holidays!

The Fairmont Hotel is lavishly, over-the-top decorated, Joan. They provide a nice holiday party for the community, I must say.

Just gorgeous Lottie, the video puts anyone in the festive spirit. I just love visiting hotels that pull out all the stops in terms of decorating.

Debb, the music, decorations, cookies, etc was a nice kick-off to the holiday season.

Great video Lottie, the sound quality was excellent. I did spot Santa but it took a minute. A 23 foot tall gingerbread house has to be some kind of record. The Fairmont hearkens back to the days of the "Grand" Hotel, stunning.

Nancy, SF City Chorus is the group with which my husband sing--I'm sure you'll hear more about them! Yes, The Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco is definitely one of the "grand" hotels, and looked every inch the part at the holiday gala.

Lottie  I love the casual way you slipped in about all the condo's within walking distance to this great event!  Great blog.

Laura, I enjoyed all the glitz and glamour on Saturday - lots of fun on occasion.

John, I love living here, as you can tell; I hope others get the idea and decide to move. After years in the suburbs, living in San Francisco is an absolute delight. A change of pace is often just the right step to take.
