Perched high atop Nob Hill in San Francisco,
The Fairmont Hotel is a favorite of many.
For years, people have come to partake of their holiday tea service, and for Saturday's community event -- a visit from Santa, the opening of the 23-foot tall Gingerbread house, free cookies, cider, champagne, cocoa and music provided by several community groups.
The San Francisco City Chorus, led by their director, Larry Marrieta, opened this morning's festivities with their beautiful renditions of traditional Christmas carols. The crowd was appreciative, and the children enthralled. Only when Santa Claus made his entrance were the children distracted!
(Can you spot Santa coming down the staircase?)
Events like this Chrismas gala at the Fairmont Hotel draw people from all over the Bay Area, but when you live here in San Francisco, it's so very easy to attend. Within a half-mile of the Fairmont Hotel, you'll find a wide variety of condominiums ready for you to make your home, or your pied-a-terre.
