Living the San Francisco Dream

San Francisco Ferry to Sausalito

Here's an idea for a special evening: take the ferry boat from San Francisco to Sausalito and enjoy dinner at the Spinnaker Restaurant.

SF skyline from ferry boat

That's exactly how we enjoyed last night, our granddaughter's 12th birthday. The idea was her's, how she wanted to celebrate the evening -- no more little kid stuff!

birthday dinner at the Spinnaker

I chauffeured the other 4 of our party to the Ferry Building at the foot of Market Street, dropped them off and proceeded to drive to Sausalito, just north of the Golden Gate Bridge, about 5 miles away. They took the Golden Gate ferry and enjoyed a breathtakingly beautiful 30-minute ride.Note: ferries stop running early in the evening, so be sure to arrange a car shuttle, or a taxi or a service like Uber or Lyft.

The Spinnaker Restaurant, located off a spit of land in San Francisco Bay, is just minutes away from the ferry landing. Service and food is good, the host and wait staff were hospitable, and the views of the City -- spectacular!

Night in Sausalito

This same outing is equally fun during the day, when browsing in stores and art galleries along and near Bridgeport Way is a treat, and round trip ferry service is available.

--- Come for a visit; Stay for a lifetime!

Helen/Larry - did you live in Sausalito at one time? Such a picturesque town!

John, we had a great time - fun to think a kid thought it up!

Kathleen, today I have to report she's not acting as sweet as she was last night. LOL! Do you remember the middle-school age?

Hi Lottie.  I remember when I lived in San Francisco and sailing up to the dock at Sam's in Tiburon for lunch.   Such an enjoyable way to spend the day.  I know your granddaughter had a wonderful time and I am sure you did as well.  Sounds like a very enjoyable evening.

Good afternoon, Lottie. I am sorry that I did not have time to look you up when I was in 'Frisco. The whole time I was out there was a blur. Have a great Thanksgiving.

Scott, Tiburon is another fabulous bay-side destination. Lots of places to play here, as well as in Park City. Have you hit the slopes yet?

Laura, we had a blast.

Michael, no apologies necessary--time flies when your on a visit. Happy Thanksgiving to you, too.
