SF Exploratorium After Dark - Special Evenings for Adults

Palace of Fine Arts, SFThe San Francisco Exploratorium has long been a favorite hands-on museum well loved by children and adults alike. It has recently moved from its home at the venerable Palace of the Fine Arts for brand new digs at Pier 15 along the Embarcadero.

The increased size of the Exploratorium at Pier 15 houses many more exhibits, along with meeting rooms, vistas of the City, and capacity for the many visitors anxious to explore and enjoy this unique offering.

Now events like Exploratorium After Dark: First Thursday Evening Hours for Adults can take place. These events, held the first Thursday of each month, are exclusively for adults and mix cocktails, conversation and innovative science and art events. Each month showcases a different topic, but all include a cash bar and film screenings, plus the opportunity to play with hundreds of hands-on exhibits. Cost is $15.00 for general admission; members pay only $10.00. For more information call 415-528-4360.

If you're looking for a different type of evening, come to the Exploratorium at Pier 15  on June 6, 2013 (or July 4, Aug 1, Sep 5, etc.) The fun starts at 6:00 PM and before you know it, the 10:00 PM closing time will have arrived, and you'll head home happy, refreshed and mentally stimulated!

When you live in San Francisco, it's easy to take advantage of opporunities like these Exploratorium After Dark special evenings for adults.

Lottie - I havn't been to the exploratorium since my kids were small.  Now that they have the adult nights it might be time to go back.  Thanks for the information.

Jim, The Exploratorium would be a different experience without kids, wouldn't it? It might be a little less chaotic, but I always enjoy seeing the kids getting excited about their discoveries. With or without kids, the Exploratorium is a gem. I'll let you know what the Adult Night is like if we go down to one.

Hi Nancy and Sharon - San Francisco has so much going on, it's hard to choose what to do and when to do it. That picture is of the Palace of Fine Arts, the former home of the Exploratorium; I get a picture of the new home soon.

Thanks for posting this Lottie! I've spent countless afternoons in the old Exploratorium, but have yet to check out their new digs.
