Living the San Francisco Dream

San Francisco Half Marathon & 5K - Sunday Feb. 3, 2013

It's here--this year's Kaiser Permanente San Francisco Half Marathon and 5K Fun Run. Tomorrow is the day, Golden Gate Park is the starting place.

SF Half Marathon & 5K

The Great Highway, pictured here, will be closed to motor vehicles from 8:00 AM to 12:00 Noon while the half-marathoners, after a circuit in Golden Gate Park, run down and back up the Great Highway, which borders Ocean Beach and the Pacific Ocean.

Not a bad place to run, what?

This year friends and I will be part of the 5K contingent instead of the 1/2 marathon; our run keeps us in Golden Gate Park itself - another beautiful spot in which to enjoy a morning of friendship, fresh air, and exercise.

SF 1/2 marathon & 5K

A bonus: a portion of each entry fee will be donated to:

  • Harbor Light Center for Alcoholism and Drug Abuse;
  • Support for Families of Children with Disabilities;
  • Koret Family House;
  • Meals on Wheels San Francisco

There's no race day registration, but if you're in the area, stop and cheer on the runners. And next year --  I hope you'll join in the fun!

When you live in San Francisco, it's so easy to enjoy some of the many activities that go on here. Tomorrow morning we'll simply hop on a city bus, armed with our Clipper Card, and enjoy a hassle-free morning; no traffic to worry about, no parking woes. Are you ready to make your San Francisco dream come true? Give me a call; let's talk.

--- Come for a visit; Stay for a lifetime!

Ki, I did this half marathon a couple of years ago; this morning it was the 5K - lots of fun!

Nancy, the fun run lived up to it's name - fun! Nice course with one hill up to Stow Lake, then a gradual descent to the finish line near the ocean. We had a blast.

Stacey-Ann - thank you! I write about it in a bit -- before Super Bowl gets underway.

Ha! Well, Laura, I didn't finish first, but did finish 10th in my age group of 83 runners--I'm happy and look forward to improving. We had a wonderful time.
