Miller's East Coast Deli, Polk Street, San Francisco

The Middle Polk Street Neighborhood of San Francisco is a bustling area with shops of all types.

Russian HillLocated one block east of Van Ness Avenue, near the base of Russian and Nob hills, you'll find a real neighborhood, with a variety of stores to meet your needs. These are not the chains you'll find at a mall but unique-to-San Francisco stores, full of character, owned by and staffed with friendly people who greet you with a smile and make you feel at home.

One such eatery is Miller's East Coast Deli. This is a favorite of my husband's and mine on those days when comfort food is called for, often enjoyed after walking to the bank, the post office and running other errands. Our favorite is a Reuben sandwich with cole slaw, but be warned---portions are huge! If you're dining solo, ask for that take-home box when you order!

Unique neighborhood shops like Miller's East Coast Deli add to the enjoyment of

Nothing beats a good deli Lottie, and there were so many when I lived in NYC.

That looks good Lottie.  I checked out their menu and it looks like the kind of place I would like to check out.   I was in The City last weekend and we went to the Buena Vista.   I saw it in one of your previous posts.   We had a great time there.  I couldn't believe the amount of Irish Coffees they made while we were there.

Hi Lottie, love a NY style deli and Millers East Coast Deli looks like the real deal. The sandwich looks delicious! Time to think about an early dinner.

Roger, does Miller's East Coast deli make you a little bit homesick for NY? It's a fun place, and quite unique among the various ethnic restaurants lining Polk Street.

Jim, give Miller's East Coast Deli a try when you're in this area. I'm glad you checked out the Buena Vista--Irish coffees are said to have originated there, and it's fascinating to watch the bartenders mass produce them on a busy evening.

Hi Nancy -- reading posts about food reallly piques the appetite, right? I haven't had dinner yet, and I sure could enjoy another Reuben sandwich!

Like many restaurants in town, Laura, Miller's East Coast Deli is packed at lunchtime; it's a favorite of many people.
