Not Your Normal New Year's Eve - 2013 in San Francisco

San Francisco is a lively city, filled with activities of every type for every age. It's also a city that likes to party, and what night calls for a party above all others? New Year's Eve, of course.

One of the many activities on December 31 is the Not Your Normal New Year's Eve to be held at the War Memorial Opera House: Herbst Theatre. Ring in the New Year with an evening of music, stand-up comedy and a huge balloon drop. The 4th annual show runs from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM, so you'll have time to make your way over to the Embarcadero to enjoy the free firework show at midnight.

--- Come for a visit; Stay for a lifetime!

For years, a normal New Years Eve for me was working.........I preferred it that way too Lottie.  Not my favorite night to celebrate.

Lottie - It's hard to believe another year has slipped by.  You've got a lot of fun ways to spend New Year's Eve in San Francisco!

Lottie, San Francisco will never have a lack of things to do. It's a matter of deciding what one wants to do. It's like a candy store ... so many goodies to choose from.

Roger, our NYEs are low-keyed, too. This year 2 friends who moved to Oregon in 2011 will be with us for the evening--we'll enjoy a late dinner here at our place, followed by a walk to the top of Russian Hill to view the fireworks over the Embarcadero. Not a big partier, here!

Hi Laura -- and I think NYE at Tahoe would be spectacular, too! I'm imagining moonlight on your snowy mountains!

Good analogy, Kathleen. Life here in SF is like being a candy store.

Hi Lottie, Not Your Normal NYE sounds like a great way to ring in the New Year, plus fireworks at the Embarcadero... sign me up!
