People in the San Francisco Bay Area like to run around a lot, and there's no better time or place to do so than in San Francisco this coming Thanksgiving weekend, 2012
- On Thanksgiving morning, 11/22/12, why not join in the fun with Turkey Day San Francisco, benefiting the San Francisco Food Bank. This is a 5K run that starts at AT&T Park (Go Giants!) The course takes one along the beautiful waterfront and ends at City Hall. Bring a non-perishable food item for the Food Bank, too. Details and entry information can be found at Turkey Day San Francisco.
- If you don't want to run on Thanksgiving morning, but want fresh air and fun, why not cheer on a group of revelers at the Turkey Trail Trot X in Golden Gate Park? Registration, limited to 1400 people, has closed for this year's 5-mile race, which benefits the Lowell High School Track and Field Team. But watching costumed turkeys, Pilgrims, Indians running through the park is sure to bring a smile to your face. You might decide to put this one on your calendar for next year.
- Or why not cap off the holiday weekend by joining Run Wild San Francisco on Sunday 11/25/12? Starting at Sports Basement in Crissy Field, this 5K walk/run supports the San Francisco Firefighters Toy Program. There's a 3,000 person limit, and you can register at Run Wild San Francisco. Don your Santa hat for this one and enjoy a flat super-scenic course.
These events aren't limited to San Franciscans; everyone is welcome, of course. But, when you live your San Francisco dream, it's just easier to join in the many activities and run around in your own back yard. Just a thought!
