Living the San Francisco Dream

Last Chance to Enjoy SF Fleet Week 2012

Crowds enjoying Fleet Week 2012 in SFFleet Week in San Francisco is always a lot of fun and a huge event, bringing in thousands of visitors. This year, in addition to the air shows and parade of ships, we have the added attraction of watching America's Cup yacht racing.

Yesterday's performances, both in the air and on the sea, were stunning--the day was crystal clear, with warm sunshine and gentle breezes. (I might have a different assessment about the breezes if I were taking part in the Amerca's Cup races - one of the Team Oracle boats capsized in the first regattas, but was back in it minutes later for the second team raced of the day.)

Fleet Week 2012 SF

This afternoon we expect a repeat performance, with its own twists.

The Air Show begins at 12:30, featuring a rescue demo by the US Coast Guard, Marine Corp demonstration, Royal Canadian Air Force demo, stunt planes from Lucas Oil and Team Oracle, and precision formation flying by the Patriots Jet Team. The US Navy Blue Angels closes out the day from 3:00 to 4:00.

Hope you get a chance to enjoy this last day of 2012 Fleet Week.

--- Come for a visit; Stay for a lifetime!

Fleet weeks all over the country is fun to watch but the backdrop of SF would make it special.

Lottie:  I literally can't envision many other sites being more "Americana" than what you describe happening in San Fran this week.  Talk about thrills ... chills ... and emotional experiences ...

Cindy, it was quite a weekend here in San Francisco. It will take me a bit to calm down after the Blue Angel's performance. Amazing!

Hello Gene - the north waterfront of San Francisco Bay serves as a natural amphitheater. With the Golden Gate bridge at one end, the Bay Bridge at the other, the SF waterfront on a third side and the Marin Headlands, Mt. Tamalpais and Sausalito to the north - spectacular, with so many perfect vantage points to watch the activities.

Sussie, I'm glad you had a great weekend. Our weather was perfect and breaking away from work for 2 afternoons was much needed and a delightful change. Have a great week,

Hi Lottie,

Fleet week sounds like a lot of fun and to have the Blue Angels close it out... you can't beat that!

Hi Laura and Nancy - October is definitely an exciting month here in San Francisco. First Fleet Week, and Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, and the SF Giants - plus a visit from President Obama, a Columbus Day parade in North Beach, various street fairs - what more?

I do not know if it’s just me or if everybody else encountering issues with your site. It seems like some of the text in your content are running off the screen. Can someone else please provide feedback and let me know if this is happening to them as well? This might be a problem with my browser because I’ve had this happen previously. Cheers
