San Francisco Neighborhoods, Upper Polk Street - Cheese Plus

The Upper Polk Street Neighborhood of San Francisco is a bustling area with shops of all types.

Cheese Plus, Polk St, SFLocated one block east of Van Ness Avenue, near the base of Russian and Nob hills, you'll find a real neighborhood, with a variety of stores to meet your needs. These are not the chains you'll find at a mall but unique-to-San Francisco stores, full of character, owned by and staffed with friendly people who greet you with a smile and make you feel at home.

One such shop is Cheese Plus, where you'll discover a mouth watering array of cheeses, charcuterie, chocolates and other gourmet treats (like my favorite blue cheese, St.Agur!)

Cheese Plus looks like my kind of shop. I would have a field day in there. Cheese is my very favorite thing. I like it by itself or with anything. Wish I lived near this little shop.

Betty, I wish you lived here too. Maybe a vacation to San Francisco is what you need! You could then hit all my favorite little shops and parks, and feel like a native! Best to you,

The malls are so sterile and have little personality.  These small mom and pop shops in the city really give you a flavor of the area and the people.  Lots of tasty stuff here too.

St. Agur is my fave blue cheese too!  I like to drizzle some truffle honey on top of it for an extra dimension in flavor that is out of this world!

Another great post Lottie.  I like to go to the little local places when I am in the City and will have to put  this one on my list.

Lottie - this sounds like a real cheesy place TIC

Doug, agreed: mom-n-pop places are the best!

Jennifer, I'll have to remember to try that sometimes, although I think St. Agur cheese is delicious as is.

Jim, jot down some of these places (or pull up my Living the San Francisco Dream outside page) I love sharing my favorite "finds."

Kathy, you're right -- cheesy place, indeed!
