Lottie:  Ironic that you post this today.  My wife and I were out and about last night and talking about how each community in our area is a carbon copy of the last.  All have much the same franchises, selling the very same things.  Your Polk Street Neighborhood sure sounds good to me.  What flavor and uniqueness these types of businesses offer a community.  Something sorely lacking in most areas ...

Gene, San Francisco works hard to keep the neighborhood shopping areas unique, filled with mom-and-pop shops instead of the large chains. You and Marilyn really should put SF on your vacation agenda--I think you'd like it here -- and you can read my blog for ideas of where to shop, dine, play, etc. (Smile!)

Jennifer, have I made you homesick yet? When are you coming back for a visit? When you do, stop in Polk Street Florist and say 'hi' to Silvia when you buy a flower or two.

This is a great neighborhood post, Lottie.  Polk Street sounds like a delightful area, just like Polk Street Florist.

Thanks, Jane. The various neighborhoods of San Francisco add to the city's charm, and Polk Street Florist is one of the stores that make SF what it is.
