Lafayette Park has gone to the dogs

Lafayette Park has gone to the dogs -- literally!
Lafayette Park San Francisco
S
an Francisco has numerous neighborhood parks, and each has its own flavor. Lovely Lafayette Park sits atop a knoll high in the Pacific Heights neighborhood in San Francisco, with stunning views in all directions. A favorite spot for residents in the surrounding condos, apartments, homes and mansions -- and for their dogs.

Scene at Lafayette Park, San Francisco

The social scene at Lafayette Park is the dogs. Yes, there are 2 tennis courts and a small children's playground area. And one small fenced in grassy area is off limits to dogs. But the rest of the park is dog heaven:

  • dogs meet their friends here and romp joyfully together
  • dog walkers bring their charges for exercise and play, and somehow manage to gather them all up again when it's time to leave
  • men and women, young and old, become friends through their dogs' friendships
  • a group of dog owners even decorate one of the park trees with photos of their dogs at Christmastime.

Wow, thanks for those great memories!  I used to catch the Jackson bus there when I was in school on Pacific and Broadway.  I remember this park very well.

How often do you come back to visit, Jennifer? I get to NYC very rarely, but am looking forward to the one day I'll have in Manhattan this summer.

Lottie:  The picture your words paint of Lafayette Park is beautiful ... for humans and four-legged friends alike.  The picture you have placed within your post ... wow!  LOVE the architecture of both buildings, but my eyes couldn't leave the taller building in the background.  Lovely ... and certainly made a wonderful impression ...

Morning Ms. Lottie my girlfriend and I would love to go there so she could meet some new friends.  She just loves to run and play and I'm sure she would have a wonderful time.

James, your girlfriend is adorable!! She'd be the belle of Lafayette Park for sure, and you'd be surrounded by new friends, both two-legged and four.
