Why Living in the San Francisco area in 2012 is so great - Reason #1
#1 - We have miles of hiking trails, and the ability to enjoy them 12 months of the year!
These photos were taken on January 7, hard as that may be to believe. Shirtsleeves were the order of the day in Marin County, CA. Muir Beach is a little over an hour's drive north from San Carlos, and about 40 minutes from San Francisco.
Starting our hike at Muir Beach, we walked past the Pelican Inn, along the Redwood Creek Trail, up the Deer Park Fire Road, up the famous Dipsea Trail to near the high point. Lunch with a 20-minute siesta in the warm winter sun was an absolute delight.
And the joy continued as we headed down the Coast View Trail toward Muir Beach Overlook. Of all the trails in the Marin Headlands, this is one of our very favorites, especially on a day as clear as Saturday.
An unexpected pleasure was finding a new trail near the Overlook, which lead us to Slide Ranch, now parkland used as an environmental educational center.
Returning to our car around 4:30 allowed us time to explore some back roads before heading for an early supper of tacos and beer in Sausalito.
A day-trip not to be missed!
