Living the San Francisco Dream

Gray skies fitting for 9/11

September 11, 2016. Today is a solemn day, a day of remembrance, and it's only fitting that skies are gray in San Francisco as the flag flies at half staff.

Flag flies at half staff at Ft. Mason

I walked back home this morning from the Sunday Farmer's Market at Ft. Mason, passing the chapel and flag pole. At the Farmer's Market, vendors were selling end-of-season stone fruits, first-of-the season apples, and the usual array of beautiful vegetables, artisan cheeses and olives, honey and more. But even there, the mood of the crowd felt more somber than usual. The musician's pipe sent quiet, haunting strains into the air.

The city seemed more subdued than its usual exuberant self and the lowered flag and foggy sky seemed in keeping with one another.

When you live in San Francisco, you'll find plenty here to make you smile and cheer you, to fill your heart with joy. You will also join in somber moments to show your respect for those who lived first-hand through tragedy and horror.

San Francisco - a city with heart.
