Living the San Francisco Dream

Our SF Active Rain Meet Up - a great Labor Day Weekend kick off

This afternoon we had a delightful Active Rain Meet Up here in San Francisco. What a lead-in to the holiday weekend!

People from suburban neighborhoods are often curious what life is like in a large city, so I thought it would be fun to get together at my place in San Francisco, where I could give them a taste of city life while we enjoyed our Active Rain friendships. While small in numbers, we had the chance to really get to know each other better, share business ideas and have fun together.

Active Rain Meet Up, SF, 2012

Evelyn Kennedy came from Alameda; Chris Hansen from Oakland. My daughter and on-site assistant, Elizabeth Kendall, came up from my San Carlos area. Ann Williams was our second Oakland representative. Phil Caulfield came from San Mateo, and Bryan Robertson made it here from Los Altos. Several others were derailed by last minute issues that came up in their businesses--we all can identify with that!

Goody bags from neighborhood shops

After many good stories were shared about our businesses, what we enjoy blogging about, Bryan's signature concierge service, etc., the group broke into two sections. Off they went,  on a prearranged exploration of some of my favorite shops and services, where they were greeted by the proprietors and were given some little trinkets. The warm, friendly welcome extended to them by the Upper Polk Street area proprietors show that the neighborliness we crave is alive and well here in San Francisco.

Pacific Place, San Francisco

As the last guests left, hopefully before commute traffic became too overwhelming, we took a quick tour of the condo complex where I live, and I heard one AR member exclaim something like, "perhaps this is what I should do." Easy city living is right for some of us.

All in all, a great afternoon of laughter and fellowship in the Rain. Have a great weekend, everyone.

--- Come for a visit; Stay for a lifetime!
